Assembler II

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team of skilled mechanical assemblers. The Assembler II will carry out work in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and in compliance with the established quality management systems. They would work from noncomplex drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, sketches, and running sheets to put together chassis, panels, and assemblies. Within their team, they will complete both prototype and productions units. Under the supervision of their production manager, the Assembler II will be responsible for maintaining their own quality of work. The Assembler II would also streamline operations by helping to improve existing assembly techniques and procedures to meet aggressive goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years soldering experience
  • Ability to demonstrate good soldering skills
  • Attention to details, including dimensions, alignment, and orientation in all 3 (L x W x H) dimensions
  • Willingness to perform repetitive straight-line bench work
  • Ability to follow blueprints or assembly specifications
  • Ability to glue, combine and/or assemble parts with a wide range of sizes and precision.
  • Ability to use specialized tools such as microscopes to carry out tasks and check quality of work
  • Ability to repair non-conforming hardware
  • Ability to use chemicals in accordance with occupational safety standards
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate but occasionally loud noises, airborne particulates, and odors
  • Ability to use power tools
  • Trouleshooting experience
  • Habit of maintaining and following proper compliance and quality systems requirements

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of antenna testing equipment
    • Experience working in an engineering development environment
    • Experience with a variety of current manufacturing processes

      Essential Functions

      • Prioritizing customer needs and ensuring their requirements are met
      • Solder, glue, combine, assemble, cut, scrape, and otherwise modify materials to create parts, components, subassemblies, and full assemblies of antennas and antenna systems
      • Perform simple, short-cycle assembly of light materials and parts, including routine assembly and modification
      • Assemble and inspect both visually and functionality of product or product parts.
      • Work to close tolerances
      • Adjust as necessary to produce product within specifications
      • Reject or correct product outside of specifications.
      • Use judgment in reworking or rewiring as necessary to meet quality specifications. Refer complex or non-routine reworking or rewiring to supervisor or lead assembler
      • Troubleshoot product if necessary
      • Communicate with operators from other shifts
      • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use
      • Check items, tools, and equipment for correctness both before and after use, or assembly with other components
      • Assist and work closely with Production Supervisor, technicians, and quality personnel
      • Maintain clean work area.
      • Work safely and perform quality work
      • Ensuring that activities are completed in a timely manner, as well as in compliance with specifications and applicable quality management system requirements
      • Supporting the engineering and production staff
      • Other duties assigned by management and upper management

       

      RF Testing Technician I

      We are seeking an experienced Radio Frequency Technician to join our growing antenna engineering firm located in Laurel, MD. In this role, you will not only test antennas, but also have the unique opportunity to contribute to a broad array of leading-edge antenna development projects. The RF Technician II will work under immediate supervision. They will rely on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the function of the job.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • High School Diploma or equivalent
      • 1-2 years’ relevant technical experience which may include hands-on fabrication to specifications using general shop equipment (i.e. bandsaw, table saw, drill press, etc.)
      • Troubleshooting experience
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Experience with MS Office software package (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
      • Experience with a variety of current manufacturing processes
      • Ability to to communicate clearly with customers and antenna engineers
      • Ability to work with employees at all levels
      • Demonstrated ability to meet aggressive project goals
      • Team player
      • Strong work ethic, including ability to work independently
      • Understanding of engineering concepts, best practices, and procedures
      • Creativity and latitude
      • Deductive reasoning and sound judgment
      • Fast, self-directed learner
      • Must be a U.S. person as defined in 22 CFR 120.15. Employment may depend upon the ability to qualify for a U.S. government security clearance

        Preferred Qualifications:

        • Familiarity with AutoCAD
        • Knowledge of antenna testing equipment
        • Knowledge of antenna and/or RF theory and experiments
        • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the antenna industry
        • Soldering experience

          Essential Functions:

          • Collaborative development and fabrication of prototype designs based on engineering specifications
          • Building electro-mechanical designs from drawings, sketches, schematics or from verbal instruction; understanding and meeting all specifications outlined therein
          • Setting up, checking and correcting operational and experimental electrical machinery, circuitry, and equipment adhering to pre-established guidelines of the organization’s engineering specifications
          • Liase between customers and antenna engineers, effectively relaying the needs of both parties in order to assist in meeting them
          • Effectively manage time to meet stringent deadlines and budgets
          • Other duties assigned by your supervisor to assist the JEM Engineering team

           

          Quality Assurance Technician

          ***Pay is negotiable based on experience***

          Minimum (Required) Qualifications:

          • This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidate must be a U.S. Person (this includes U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident).
          • High school diploma

          Preferred Qualifications: 

          • Associate degree in quality control management
          • Quality inspection experience
          • 9001 or AS9100 certification

          Essential Functions:

          • Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, procedures, and sample data, to verify conformity of materials, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
          • Monitor assembly process to ensure compliance with related procedures as applicable.
          • Clean, maintain, and calibrate test equipment and instruments in accordance with established procedures.
          • Assist with recommending and implementing corrective actions with the intention of preventing future product and process nonconformances.
          • Assist with disposition of products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
          • Inspect materials, products, and work in progress for conformance to specifications; complete all inspection reports in their entirety per the instruction of the Quality Manager.
          • Mark items for acceptance or rejection, records test results and inspection data, and compares findings with specifications to ensure conformance to standards.
          • Test and measure finished products, components, or assemblies for functioning, operation, accuracy, or assembly to verify adherence to specifications.
          • Assist Quality Manager with internal auditing and completing reports relevant to maintaining the AS9100D certification.
          • Assist Quality Manager and other departments with procedural updates and changes to ensure documented procedures meet current practices and are compliant with the AS9100D standard.
