RF Engineer I

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join our team of experienced antenna engineers, skilled technicians, and RF experts. The RF Engineer I will be the principal engineer for multiple antenna product development programs. With guidance from their fellow engineers and technician support, they will be tasked with seeing their assigned projects through to fruition, from the conceptualization and design phase, to planning and executing projects, to fine-tuning working antenna prototypes and manufacturable products. The RF I would also support antenna testing and help improve existing antenna designs to meet requirements on domestic and international projects. Familiarity with CST or similar simulation software preferred. Candidate will need to qualify for and maintain a US Security clearance.

 

FLSA Status: Exempt

Travel: Up to 20%

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • <1 year of applicable work experience as an Antenna Engineer OR 3+ years of experience performing the essential functions listed above

      Essential Functions:

      • Responding to technical questions are requests from customers, prioritizing customer needs and ensuring their requirements are met
      • Contributing to written proposals, technical reports, and technical briefings when necessary
      • Conceptualizing, planning, and executing projects that lead to working antenna prototypes and manufacturable products using JEM technician support
      • Performing essential product development activities such as fabrication, modification, and evaluation of components
      • Operating computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment
      • Co-developing new designs for broadband microwave antenna
      • Supports efforts within antenna ranges and programs
      • Ensuring that activities are completed in a timely manner, as well as in compliance with specifications and applicable quality management system requirements

      Assembler I

      We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team of skilled mechanical assemblers. The Assembler I will carry out work in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and in compliance with the established quality management systems. They would work from noncomplex drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, sketches, and running sheets to put together chassis, panels, and assemblies. Within their team, they will complete both prototype and productions units. Under the supervision of their production manager, the Assembler I will be responsible for maintaining their own quality of work. The Assembler I would also streamline operations by helping to improve existing assembly techniques and procedures to meet aggressive goals.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • >2 years soldering experience
      • Ability to demonstrate good soldering skills
      • Attention to details, including dimensions, alignment, and orientation in all 3 (L x W x H) dimensions
      • Willingness to perform repetitive straight-line bench work
      • Ability to follow blueprints or assembly specifications
      • Ability to glue, combine and/or assemble parts with a wide range of sizes and precision.
      • Ability to use specialized tools such as microscopes to carry out tasks and check quality of work
      • Ability to repair non-conforming hardware
      • Ability to use chemicals in accordance with occupational safety standards
      • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate but occasionally loud noises, airborne particulates, and odors
      • Habit of maintaining and following proper compliance and quality systems requirements

          Essential Functions

          • Prioritizing customer needs and ensuring their requirements are met
          • Solder, glue, combine, assemble, cut, scrape, and otherwise modify materials to create parts, components, subassemblies, and full assemblies of antennas and antenna systems
          • Perform simple, short-cycle assembly of light materials and parts, including routine assembly and modification
          • Assemble and inspect both visually and functionality of product or product parts.
          • Work to close tolerances
          • Adjust as necessary to produce product within specifications
          • Reject or correct product outside of specifications.
          • Use judgment in reworking or rewiring as necessary to meet quality specifications. Refer complex or non-routine reworking or rewiring to supervisor or lead assembler
          • Troubleshoot product if necessary
          • Communicate with operators from other shifts
          • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use
          • Check items, tools, and equipment for correctness both before and after use, or assembly with other components
          • Assist and work closely with Production Supervisor, technicians, and quality personnel
          • Maintain clean work area.
          • Work safely and perform quality work
          • Ensuring that activities are completed in a timely manner, as well as in compliance with specifications and applicable quality management system requirements

          Engineering Project Manager

          We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Project Manager with sufficient experience with a variety of current manufacturing processes, as well as an understanding of the principles and best practices of management/supervision. A strong candidate would have sound knowledge of antenna and/or RF theory and experimentation.

          The Engineering Project Manager will be responsible for not only developing strategic programs, policies, procedures, and standards for day-today activities, but also for creating evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of each engineering project and its progression. Under the President’s general supervision, the Engineering Project Manager would also develop and monitor budgets. Based on their findings, the Engineering Project Manager would be tasked with updating the Executive Branch with information pertaining to program completion, resource allocation, profitability, and strategic overview of all current project. Additionally, they would provide technical advice and/or supervision to staff, other departments, as well as other agencies involved within each project.

          • 2+ years of applicable work experience as Engineering Program Manager OR 6+ years of experience performing the essential functions listed below

            Essential Functions:

            • Responding to technical questions are requests from customers, prioritizing customer needs and ensuring their requirements are met
            • Managing multiple tasks, often with competing deadlines
            • Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound, independent judgment within general JEM Engineering guidelines
            • Implementing strategic goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards where applicable for all programs
            • Developing the overall budget for each project, overseeing financial solvency of all the programs by analyzing cost effectiveness and exercising cost controls; prepares, submits, and justifies budget to the Executive Branch
            • Planning, organizing, administering, reviewing, and evaluating the work of subordinate professional, technical, and support staff
            • Reviewing all records related to the evaluation, control, and documentation of assigned projects
            • Preparing a variety of written correspondence, reports, procedures, and other materials and submitting them to applicable parties
            • Ensuring that engineering projects are completed in the most cost effective, and timely manner, in alignment with outlined specifications and applicable quality management system requirements
            • Supporting the engineering and production staff

            RF Testing Technician I

            We are seeking an experienced Radio Frequency Technician to join our growing antenna engineering firm located in Laurel, MD. In this role, you will not only test antennas, but also have the unique opportunity to contribute to a broad array of leading-edge antenna development projects. The RF Technician II will work under immediate supervision. They will rely on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the function of the job.

             

            FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

            Minimum Qualifications:

            • High School Diploma or equivalent
            • 1-2 years’ relevant technical experience which may include hands-on fabrication to specifications using general shop equipment (i.e. bandsaw, table saw, drill press, etc.)
            • Troubleshooting experience
            • Strong verbal and written communication skills
            • Experience with MS Office software package (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
            • Experience with a variety of current manufacturing processes
            • Ability to to communicate clearly with customers and antenna engineers

                • Setting up, checking and correcting operational and experimental electrical machinery, circuitry, and equipment adhering to pre-established guidelines of the organization’s engineering specifications
                • Liase between customers and antenna engineers, effectively relaying the needs of both parties in order to assist in meeting them
                • Effectively manage time to meet stringent deadlines and budgets
                • Other duties assigned by your supervisor to assist the JEM Engineering team

                 

                RF Testing Technician II

                    We are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our engineering firm located in Laurel, MD. In this role, you will monitor the production process and other documented business processes to determine if JEM Engineering’s parts, products, and processes meet stringent quality specifications. You will assist the Quality Manager in maintaining all aspects of the JEM Quality and Safety Management systems. This is a unique opportunity where you would have the chance to help develop and improve processes and make a lasting impact at an ever-growing company.

                        Essential Functions:

                        • Follow drawings and bills of material to determine whether parts and materials meet documented requirements
                        • Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, procedures, and sample data, to verify conformity of materials, subassemblies, and final assemblies
                        • Monitor assembly process to ensure compliance with related procedures as applicable
                        • Clean, maintain, and calibrate test equipment and instruments in accordance with established procedures
                        • Assist with recommending and implementing corrective actions with the intention of preventing future product and process nonconformances
                        • Assist with disposition of products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications
                        • Inspect materials, products, and works in progress for conformance to specifications
                        • Complete all inspection reports in their entirety per the instruction of the Quality Manager
                        • Other duties assigned by Quality Manager to assist the JEM Engineering team
